What is LPT?
Advantages of LPT
A non-destructive testing technique called liquid penetrant testing (LPT), also known as dye penetrant inspection (DPI), is used to find surface-breaking flaws in non-porous materials like metals, polymers, and ceramics.
Fluorescent and colour contrast liquid penetrant testing are the two primary forms. Both techniques require applying a liquid penetrant that, through capillary action, is drawn into surface-breaking defects, then applying a developer to draw the penetrant out of the defect and make it visible.
During fluorescent penetrant testing, a penetrant with a fluorescent dye that glows under ultraviolet (UV) light is used. Any imperfections will be emphasised by the glowing dye once the penetrant has been applied and any excess removed, and the surface has been checked under UV light.
